- THE LITTLE RABBIT - Written by a very young Josh Morgan A pile of eggs lay warm in the sun, upon them sits Mother Rabbit not having much fun! She sits and sits saying, “Oh my what a bore!” And just for a change of pace she sits some more. “Why on earth do eggs need so much care? I am tired of sitting here! It just isn’t fair!” Upon the word fair the eggs began to shake, and a mighty rustling began on Easter Lake. The animals of the lake from here and there, them critters came from everywhere! Sitting on eggs is a pretty big habit, but none rank as high as those of the Easter Rabbit. The bunch of eggs that were lying there, were the sons and daughters of the great Easter Hare. The animals watched in a perfect straight line while the eggs started to hatch one at a time. Mother Rabbit gazed, her eyes full of wonder, when suddenly an egg burst open like thunder. Out pounced a baby rabbit the largest in size, leaping almost as far as a bird normally fly’s. He landed more gracefully than he had flown. The animals whispered “My he looks full grown!” Then suddenly opened egg number two, with another rabbit yelling “Guess who?” The animals watched as did come number 3, looking around wildly at the things she could see. Mother Rabbit stood feeling oh so proud, then without thinking she said out loud, “My, my, my, just look at my children! I’ll name them Daisy, Danny and Dilian!” And never ever for the rest of the day did any animal notice that a forth egg still lay. It sat there all day (and night too) for the mother was busy she had so much to do! Mother Rabbit woke up the very next day, saw the egg and then had to say, “Oh dear me oh bother oh me oh my! I am so ashamed I just want to cry! She watched silently as the egg started to squirm, almost an exact replica of that of a worm. The baby rabbit inside wasn’t very big at all; it closely resembled the size of a tennis ball. Mother Rabbit was proud none the rest, but the animals stared in shock at the creature in the nest. The rabbit stood up and looked all around, he seemed quite fond of the new world he had found. Little by little the rabbits all grew, except for the runt; he did not know what to do. Dilian spent his time collecting the girls, for he was the most handsome rabbit in the world. Danny was Smart and went to school, He learned so much the teacher felt like a fool. Daisy was quiet and stuck by her mother, never wanting to play with any of her big brothers. The last little rabbit often liked to stay with his older sister and together they would play. Mother Rabbit just pondered for a few days more; she wanted a name no one thought of before. After a while she thought of a stitz, the little runt now owned the name of Rabbite Rabbitz. Rabbite liked his name and boasted to the world, not knowing he was being watched by a girl. A few years passed, all the rabbits had grown, except for Rabbite his problem no one had known. The animals whispered, “Oh what shall we do? Easter Rabbit won’t like this one bit, it’s true!” Just then suddenly to all their surprise Easter Rabbit emerged with twinkles in his eyes. Rabbite stared in wonder, “Oh goodness me! Could there possibly be a rabbit as great as he?” Easter Rabbit hopped up to his wife with care, “Looks like you’ve been busy, my look there!” He didn’t notice Rabbite at first, Rabbite was afraid, “I’ll be chosen for the worst! He’ll be so ashamed when he sees me! Oh sad and abused poor little me!” Rabbite walked away his head hung low when he heard Easter rabbit yell quickly, “Hello!” Rabbite turned around and look up at the hare, both eyes in wonder began to stare. “Oh my!” Thought Rabbite, “Oh my Oh my! Such a beautiful creature, just look at this guy!” Easter Rabbit spoke up, “Hello, little tot, You ought to be famous, you sure ought!” Rabbite blushed at such a remark; it was the first time a compliment touched his heart. Mother Rabbit persuaded him to look at the three. “Why my dear wife, just look at he! His fur is as white as a rare Christmas dove, he must be an angel that came from above.” “He’s cute too, I also might add, but these other three I’d have to say aren’t that bad.” “Dilian is strong, and a big girl magnet, but I think he has made that to much of a habit. Danny is Smart and a technical guy, but he must get out more, only on games does he fly! Daisy is cute, and a real huggable girl, but I haven’t seen a more shy rabbit in all the world!” Daisy didn’t mind, she like her dad, but Danny and Dilian were both very mad! Dilian spoke up “What the heck was that, Rabbite ain’t that good, he’s a little too fat!” “He’s plump!” Said the great Easter Hare. “Come now my children your being unfair.” “It’s you dearest father who’s the least fair one, who cares about Easter, it isn’t that fun!” Daisy spoke up, “How dare you! What you just said isn’t the least bit true!” “My dear sister of the lowest age, perhaps creatures like you should head to the lab’s cage!” The animals gasped at such an evil remark, the mind of the brothers had become dark.
